Saffron shallows is an abstract landscape built around a cool, milky pool of water, edged by shifting blocks of colour and a sudden, bright lift of chartreuse reeds. Above it, warm saffron and soft mauves sit against dusty blues and stony neutrals, like the bush holding onto heat while the water stays calm.
Up close, the surface is all layered textures, dragged paint, scumbled passages and bolder marks that cut through. It reads as a lagoon or creek bend without locking you into one place, which makes it easy to live with. It’s bright, but not loud, and it has that good push-pull between stillness and energy.
