A walking track cuts through coastal heath, pulling your eye towards a band of blue water, a wide, calm sky, and a feeling of freedom. Up close, the surface is all movement: layered brushstrokes, scumbled colour, and quick marks that hint at scrubby branches and salt-tough vegetation. The palette leans into Australian light — soft blues and lilacs against warm sand tones, with jolts of rust and coral that feel like late-afternoon colour catching on seed heads and leaves.
This mixed media piece is based on the shores at Rockingham Beach, WA, sitting in that sweet spot between recognisable place and memory, transporting you to a familiar coastal rhythm: path, scrub, horizon, breath.
